Naftogaz Announces Unchanged Gas Tariffs for the Population, Plans for Future Price Adjustments Revealed

Chairman of NJSC Naftogaz Ukrainy Ensures No Increase in Gas Prices this Winter, Emphasizes the Importance of Energy Conservation

Naftogaz, the prominent state-owned oil and gas company, has recently provided reassurance to the public regarding gas tariffs for the upcoming winter season. In an official statement, Oleksiy Chernyshov, the esteemed chairman of the board of NJSC Naftogaz Ukrainy, confirmed that there would be no escalation in gas prices during the heating season. As the war situation reaches its conclusion, the tariff adjustments will be implemented accordingly.

Chernyshov’s words bring solace to the hearts of Ukrainians, as he emphatically declares, “I want to alleviate any concerns among our fellow citizens. Naftogaz has no intentions of augmenting gas prices for the duration of this imminent heating season. Rest assured, the invoices shall remain unaltered throughout the winter period.”

The chairman duly reminded the public that NAC (National Joint-Stock Company) Naftogaz serves a vast majority of Ukrainian consumers, encompassing an impressive 12.5 million households. As a testament to their commitment, the company has extended the fixed tariff until May 2024. Consequently, the population will persist in paying the modest sum of UAH 7.96 per cubic meter, inclusive of value-added tax.

In conjunction with this news, Chernyshov also implored Ukrainians to embrace energy-efficient practices and actively conserve resources. By embracing these sustainable measures, cities across the nation could potentially reduce their energy consumption by an impressive 10% on an annual basis.

Meanwhile, it is crucial to acknowledge the recent surge in electricity tariffs that has burdened Ukrainian citizens since June. Effective from June 1, the cost of one kilowatt-hour of electricity for the populace has risen to 2.64 hryvnia. This significant increase represents a staggering 57-83% surge compared to previous rates. For an average family, this surge in electricity costs will translate to an approximate increment of UAH 250 in their monthly bills according to Reuters.

In conclusion, the Ukrainian population can find solace in the confirmation provided by Naftogaz that gas tariffs will remain unaltered this winter. However, the escalating electricity tariffs demand the immediate attention of both authorities and citizens alike. By conscientiously implementing energy conservation measures, Ukrainians can navigate these challenging times and mitigate the financial impact of surging electricity costs.
