The New South Wales Police Force has confirmed the launch of an investigation into the matter. According to reports, the alleged assault took place around 2:30 a.m on Tuesday morning. Fortunately, no medical attention was required for Ben McDonald, the 51-year-old photographer.
Ben McDonald shared details of the incident with Media, stating that the altercation unfolded after Scott and Taylor had been out partying. McDonald claims that Scott Swift “charged” at him after both disembarked from their luxury superyacht for the night.
According to McDonald, Scott struck him on the left side of the face, resulting in “very sore chops.” McDonald maintains that he did nothing to provoke Taylor Swift’s protective father. In his 23-year career, McDonald expressed that he had never experienced such an incident before.
Scott Swift’s representative informed Page Six that the altercation occurred when two individuals aggressively approached Taylor, grabbing at her security personnel and threatening harm to a female staff member. Photos from the alleged incident depict Scott and Taylor walking off a dock with a black umbrella covering the singer from the waist up. Scott, without shielding himself, was seen at his daughter’s side, holding out his arm to guide her along, accompanied by at least two security guards.
Ben McDonald, the accuser, disclosed to the AFP news agency that he had been photographing the US pop star on her “super yacht” in Sydney’s famous harbor. After Taylor’s departure, McDonald claimed that a man confronted him and “punched me in the chops.” McDonald initially did not recognize Scott Swift’s identity but later realized it was Taylor’s father after reviewing photos of him holding hands with the singer.
Scott Swift has been a regular attendee at his daughter’s concerts for over ten years and accompanied her to Australia for the global segment of her tour.
