Kim Kardashian poses in a Balenciaga dress after backlash

Kim Kardashian wore a Balenciaga dress during Paris Fashion Week, nearly a year after the brand faced backlash following its controversial photo shoot involving children.

The Kardashians star, 42, posed in a floor-length black latex scoop-neck dress in a photo shared by Balenciaga’s Instagram account on Sunday, October 1. However, Kim would not have paraded in this ensemble. In response to the post, several commenters recalled the criticism Kim and the label received in 2022. However, comments on the post were limited.

“Ugh, I thought Kim was done with Balenciaga, but look how cute this is,” one person wrote. “That was quick,” added another.

In November 2022, Kim was criticized by fans for her association with the fashion company due to an advert promoted by Balenciaga at the time. In its holiday campaign, children were seen holding up teddy bears with harnesses and BDSM costumes. As a result, countless viewers condemned Balenciaga and Kim. In a few days, the founder of Skims broke her silence on the subject.

“I have remained silent over the past few days, not because I haven’t been disgusted and outraged by Balenciaga’s recent campaigns, but because I wanted the opportunity to speak to their team to understand for myself how it could have happened,” Kim said. ” wrote in a statement via X at the time. “As a mother of four, I was shaken by these disturbing images. The safety of children should be viewed with the utmost respect and any attempt to normalize child abuse, in any form, should have no place in our society, period.

Kim shares children North, Saint, Chicago and Psalm West with ex-husband Kanye “Ye” West. In her tweet, Kim concluded that she was “reevaluating (her) relationship with the brand.”

A month after releasing her statement, Kim reflected on the ordeal during a December 2022 episode of the “Angie Martinez IRL” podcast.

“Even with Balenciaga, it was like everyone was like, ‘Why aren’t you talking?’ Why don’t you speak out?’ “, the entrepreneur recalls. “And I’m like, ‘Wait, I’m not in this campaign. I don’t know what’s going on. Let me take a minute to do some research on this,’ and then “As soon as I saw what everyone was seeing on the Internet and the reality of the situation, I completely spoke out and gave my opinion on child pornography and completely denounced it.”

Nonetheless, Kim noted that she was still under scrutiny for not speaking out immediately after the brand’s ad aired.

“Because I didn’t say ‘Fuck you, Balenciaga,’ that’s all, people got mad at that,” she continued. “So it’s like they’re angry if I don’t speak, they’re angry if I speak and if I don’t cancel (the mark).”
