    Tension in the Black Sea – Russian fleet opens fire on a British destroyer that violated the border

    The incident took place near Cape Fiolent, in the southwest of the Crimean peninsula.

    The Russian fleet in the Black Sea and the Coast Guard appealed on Wednesday to fire warning when a destroyer of the Navy of the United Kingdom crossed the state border of Russia and entered the territorial waters of the country near the Cape Fiolent, in southwest Crimea, reported the Russian Defense Ministry.

    “At 11:52 am on 23 June, the British Navy destroyer Defender, operating in the north-western part of the Black Sea, crossed the state border of the Russian Federation and entered its territorial sea 3 kilometers near Cape Fiolent “, detailed the Ministry.

    The ship was warned at first about the use of weapons in case of violation of the Russian border, but “did not react to this warning,” the ministry said.

    At 12:06 and 12:08 a Coast Guard patrol vessel opened warning fire. At 12:19 a.m. a Su-24M attack plane issued a warning with a bomb drop in the area to which the destroyer was heading.

    As a result of these actions, the Defender left Russian territorial waters.

    The Russian Defense Ministry regards the Defender’s behavior as a flagrant violation of the UN convention and urges London to thoroughly investigate the ship’s actions in the Black Sea.

    The Ministry has subpoenaed the UK military attaché in connection with the incident in the Black Sea.

    The Ministry of Defense of the United Kingdom has rejected your account of Twitter that his vessel has been a fire warning from Russia.

    “We believe that the Russians were conducting artillery exercises in the Black Sea and had provided the maritime community with advance warning of their activity. No shots were directed at HMS Defender and we deny that bombs were dropped on their path,” the statement said.
