Scooby-Doo cartoonist and co-creator Joe Ruby died at the age of 87. According to Deadline, Ruby died “of natural causes and suffered from health problems for several years.”
Ruby was born on March 30, 1933. After serving in the US Army, he met Ken Spears, with whom he created Scooby-Doo and other famous characters. The first cartoon about Scooby-Doo was created in 1969.

Later, the two animators created Ruby-Spears Productions, which released other famous cartoons, including Alvin and the Chipmunks, Tandarr the Barbarian, and others.
