Postpone foreign marketing campaign due to conflict in Ukraine

Islandsstofa has delayed a foreign marketing campaign that was to be launched today due to the war on the Ukrainian-Russian border.

Media reports on this and quotes Sigridur Dogg Gudmundsdottir, director of tourism at Islandsstofa, in light of the uncertainty that the state has deemed necessary to delay the start of the campaign indefinitely.

The decision was made yesterday, but the campaign is part of the marketing project Iceland together in an effort that secured ISK 550 million in additional funding at the beginning of February.

Sigridur says in a conversation with VidskiptaMoggann that despite this, the various projects are underway at Islandsstofa. Advertising is still ongoing in key markets such as the United States, the United Kingdom, and Germany, in addition to which a consumer survey will be conducted in the main markets of Icelandic tourism in the coming months. Special efforts are being made to promote Akureyri and Egilsstadir airports as additional portals into the country.
