Atalanta made a mistake in the battle for the Champions League place

Atalanta made a mistake in the battle for a place in the European Champions League when the team received relegation-threatened team Cagliari in the Italian Premier League in football today. The final score was 2-1, but the victory lifted Cagliari out of the relegation zone.

Neither team was able to break the ice before the halftime break, so the score was 0-0 when they went to the locker room.

The visitors in Cagliari, however, took the lead early in the second half with a goal from Gaston Pereiro after an assist from Dalbert.

Things were going to get worse for the visitors. Atletico’s Juan Musso was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent’s quick free-kick after 53 minutes.

Atalanta’s players had to play the last 40 minutes of the game with one man less.

However, that did not stop them from scoring the next goal. Jose Luis Palomino was in the clear after breaking the offside trap following a Duvan Zapata counterattack from the left after 64 minutes.

However, the situation was not even for a long time because only four minutes later the visitors took the lead again with another goal from Gaston Pereiro, but it turned out to be the last goal of the game.

The result was a 2-1 victory for Cagliari, who rose from the relegation zone with the victory. The team now sits in 17th place in the league with 20 points after 24 games, two points above the relegation zone.

Atalanta, however, are still in fourth place in the league with 43 points after 23 games, just one point above Juventus who can rise above Atalanta with a win against Verona tonight.
