    Former Assistant Foreign Minister appointed Haafell’s managing director

    Gauti Geirsson, a fisheries expert, has been hired as the new managing director of Haafell, An aquaculture company owned by Hradfrystihus.

    This is stated in an announcement from Haafell. It says that there is a lot of development ahead on behalf of Haafell, but the company has been engaged in aquaculture in Isafjardardjupur since 2001.

    “Gauti is a 28-year-old from Isfjordur and has a B.Sc. degree in fisheries sciences from the University of Tromso and is currently working on a master's project in the same sciences that he will complete next spring. Gauti has worked for Haafell since 2017 as a project manager and is therefore well acquainted with Haafell's operations and operations. Gauti is cohabiting with Elena Dís Vidisdottir, an engineering student, and they are expecting their first child this summer, “says the announcement.

    Gauti also worked as an assistant to Gunnar Bragi Sveinsson during his time as Minister of .

    “Haafell has a license for 800 tonnes of salmon and rainbow trout farming at its juvenile farm in Nauteyri, as well as a 7,000-tonne license for sea cages in Isafjardardjupur for farming of rainbow trout. Rainbow trout are currently being farmed by the company in two places in Isafjardardjupur, in Alftafjordur, and under Baejahlid within Aedey. The 6,800-tonne salmon farming license for Haafell in Isafjardardjupur has been announced and the aim is to release the first salmon juveniles in Isafjardardjupur early next spring, “says the announcement.
