These hikes are among the most beautiful in Germany: 5 tours for everyone who wants to go hiking in Bavaria – and who particularly value a great view
Hiking in Bavaria: 5 hiking trails with a wonderful view
At the latest when you have reached the summit, treat yourself to a cyclist or specialty and enjoy the view, you know: this hike was worth it! And even if there are regions all over Germany with great tours, one federal state probably stands out in particular: Bavaria. Due to the unique alpine landscape, the region is extremely popular with hiking fans from all over the country. The view of the Bavarian lakes – from the Tegernsee over the Schliersee to the Walchensee – also ensures that the hikes in Bavaria are a special highlight. Therefore, here are five of the most beautiful tours, which score above all with their breathtaking views.
Hikes in Germany: Wallberg am Tegernsee
The Wallberg hike is a classic and can be reached quickly and easily from Munich by car or train (and then by bus). But that’s not the only reason why it is so popular: Once you have reached the summit, you have a great panoramic view of Lake Tegernsee and the entire region. In good weather, you can also watch adventure fans paragliding.

Hiking in Bavaria: Heimgarten and Herzogstand
The Walchensee and Kochelsee are undoubtedly some of the most beautiful lakes in Germany due to their crystal clear, turquoise waters. However, they look even more impressive from above – and that’s why this hike is worthwhile. But be careful: this mountain tour is not for people with vertigo problems, as you have to cross a very fine line here. After all, you will be rewarded with an incredible panorama.

Hikes in Berchtesgaden: Grünstein in Schönau
If the classic Watzmann tour in the Berchtesgadener Land is a little too demanding and is looking for an easier alternative, this is the right place for you. From the Grünstein summit, you have a great view of the Berchtesgaden valley – including the Königssee! And if you feel like a little more action, you can (with the right equipment, of course) make a detour to the via Ferrata.

Hiking trails in the Allgäu: Scheidwangalpe-Hochgrat-Tour
Pure idyll: the mountain tour in the Allgäu Alps leads to the highest peak in the Nagelfluh chain – the 1,800-meter high Hochgrat. The widest (albeit initially a bit steep) paths of the four-hour hike ensure that even hobby hikers without much experience can do this without any problems. The beautiful view is definitely worth it: the panorama extends from the Allgäu main ridge to Lake Constance. Bavaria at its best!
Duration of the hike: 4 hours
Difficulty level: easy

Hiking in the Bavarian Forest: Kaitersberg classic
Forest, forest, and even more forest: the Kaitersberg hike, which serves as an introduction to the Arber high-altitude tour, is one of the highlights in the Viechtacher Land. The tour starts in Reitberg and leads, among other things, over the “smoke tubes”, two cylindrical boulders, as well as the Räuber-Heigl-Höhle, which give it a mystical touch. The forest-sea is a bit reminiscent of the Canadian landscape – so it’s no wonder that the region is also known as “Bavarian Canada”.
Duration of the hike: 7 hours
