A magnitude 6.6 earthquake shook the area near the Seferihisar district of Izmir.
The United Nations (UN) has expressed readiness to help after a strong earthquake hit Izmir, in Turkey.
A spokesman for UN Secretary-General Stephane Dujarric said that they had expressed readiness to help in talks with Turkish officials, Anatolia reported.
He added that they had received information from the competent authorities and that they would continue to be in contact.
“If necessary, we are ready to help,” Dujarric said.
