    The art of breathing

Now autumn has arrived and we say goodbye to an unconventional and interesting summer until next time. There’s something about autumn that connects me to the earth. Life gets into a more efficient routine. The end of summer marks a new beginning for many. It can be stressful to deal with new things and to feel refreshed and ready for them. Sometimes you make unreasonable demands on yourself and it can happen that life can be overwhelming. Then it is so important to be able to stop and simply breathe.

I went to an exhibition in Asmundarsalur yesterday which dealt with small philosophy or “minisophy”. I have written about it before, philosophy is the philosophy of the small things in life and in my opinion a real genius. It’s so good to be able to shake up a little bit in the brain, which has the ability to focus too much on something and widen the horizons.

The exhibition included various text fragments on the wall as well as fun works of art that could be touched and moved. There was a sentence that caught my attention immediately and silently as follows: “In philosophy, the soul has long been associated with the breath. Everything that lives draws the breath and the breath is an expression of life. ”

Namely, our soul life is closely related to breathing. We exist because we breathe. Imagine what that, in itself, is amazing. We exist right now because we breathe. We can always stop and take a deep breath when we feel like we need to.

My advice for the winter is simply to remember to breathe, feel its power, and be grateful for the breath along the way.
