Video of the Year award went to singer The Weeknd.
The “coronavirus” MTV Video Music Awards took place over the weekend. It usually takes place at the Barclays Center sports arena in New York, but this year the organizers could not adhere to the usual format due to quarantine restrictions. At the same time, the artists still presented their performances, but without spectators, in different locations and in some cases wearing masks on their faces.
The main award, “Video of the Year”, was awarded to the Canadian singer The Weeknd for the video for the song Blinding Lights. He also received the award for the best R&B composition.
Lady Gaga received the Artist of the Year award, and her collaboration with Ariana Grande Rain On Me was named Song of the Year. The same song won the Best Collaboration award. The award for Best Rock Song went to Coldplay for their song Orphans. The best group is the South Korean collective BTS.
Quarantine-related performance awards were also presented this year. Thus, Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber received the Best Video from Home award for the video Stuck with U. And MTV Unplugged At Home was named the best quarantine performance.
