iOS 15.4 beta brings a big change: Apple finally solved a two-year-old problem

Apple shipped iOS 15.2 to iPhones a few days ago, and the company is already preparing iOS 15.3 and iOS 15.4, and this latest version of iOS is already available in beta, and one leaker revealed one very important upgrade that this version gets iOS.

Apple devices have been coming for several years with Face ID support, which serves to unlock the phone by recognizing the user’s face. When the pandemic of the COVID-19 virus began, this became a big problem, because Face ID was simply not so capable of recognizing the user wearing the mask. Still, Apple managed to make Face ID compatible even when the user wears the mask, but the catch was that the phone had to be paired with an Apple Watch that was previously authenticated. Without the use of the Apple Watch, which many iPhone users do not have, Face ID has remained ineffective. However, Apple has now solved this problem as well.

Namely, one of the latest options that Brandon Butch discovered in the latest beta version of iOS 15.4, is the ability to use Face ID even when wearing a mask without connecting the iPhone to the Apple Watch. He states that Face ID can now be used on the iPhone for Apple Pay, downloading applications and games from the App Store, as well as third-party applications.

Basically, when you set the Face ID, you don’t have to wear a mask, but the Face ID will simply be able to recognize the user based on the part of the face that is visible and when the mask is on the face.

In addition to this very important upgrade, iOS 15.4 beta also brings improved face recognition when the user wears glasses, which has been a partial problem so far. Now users also have the option to add glasses to Face ID, GSM Arena reports.
