NASA will send a toilet worth 23 million dollars, specially designed for astronauts, to the International Space Station.
NASA’s “space toilet” made of titanium, weighs almost 50 kilograms and is 70 centimeters high, that is, it is twice smaller than the Russian ones that are currently on the MSS.
The toilet is designed so that it can be installed in “Orion” spacecraft, which should allow astronauts to reach the Moon in the near future, and then, perhaps, to Mars.
While earlier versions of the toilets were more male-oriented, the new NASA model was upgraded, so the seat was tilted and raised to better suit female astronauts as well.
According to the British “Independent”, astronauts on the MSS are currently using a vacuum system.
