A group of tourists witnessed the life-and-death duel between a huge eagle and its prey, a monitor lizard, in South Africa’s Kruger National Park. The scene can be seen on the park’s YouTube channel, which has posted the video.

Rodney Nombekana, a 43-year-old guide, and photographer, was taking a group of tourists to observe a pride of lions and leopards when he noticed the confrontation between the bird and the lizard. “It was indescribable, I’ve never seen anything like this before!”

“After watching the fight for about an hour, I had to serve breakfast to my guests, so I took them to my favorite spot,” Rodney wrote.
