    Marco Coretti’s iconic couture joins Japan’s prestigious fashion collection

    Part of the archive of the couturier Marco Coretti will be part of the permanent collection of the prestigious Japanese Institute of Fashion Research and Archive. A piece of news that makes all admirers and defenders of Made in proud and enthusiastic. The famous Museum Center for Fashion Research in Japan, founded in 1978 to preserve, disseminate, and study the most significant expressions of Western fashion, has an enviable archive, that goes from the seventeenth century to the present day. In this institution are preserved over 13,000 pieces of and accessories and 20,000 documents, including works by Chanel, Christian Dior, and Louis Vuitton. Of absolute importance is the section dedicated to Comme des Garcons, which includes 1,000 items of clothing by the Japanese fashion house.

    Marco Coretti now enters this prestigious and authoritative archive with thirty outfits from various collections, including some belonging to the collection inspired by Capogrossi that was shown in 2003 at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Rome, the Tahiti Tattoos collection of 2002 inspired by the book by Giampaolo Barbieri and the White Collection of 2000, a registered Pantone color that has become the leitmotif of the designer. Among these clothes and accessories, those worn by Grace Jones, Vanessa Redgrave, and Béatrice Dalle stand out.

    The Kyoto Costume Institute is one of the most prestigious and important fashion institutions in Japan and the world. Founded in 1978 by the founder and curator Koichi Tsukamoto, it successfully carries out archiving, conservation, and research activities on Western fashion, which is studied not only from a stylistic point of view but also as a social and cultural phenomenon. In addition, the KCI organizes prestigious exhibitions, edits publications, and carries out training and research activities.
