Embrace autumn 2024 fashion with cozy corduroy looks

Autumn deserves better. I think so. Always surprised by the reaction that comes with the arrival of the cooler season, autumn's popularity still seems to be a long time coming. Suddenly everyone is complaining about the weather. The overwhelming demands of the wardrobe.

But you can also look at the whole thing in a positive light: It's finally time for coziness. You can watch films again without feeling guilty. And you have the best excuse for time. And the fashion trends are far too good to complain about. Knitwear and leather are in season now. But corduroy is also a part of it, as can be seen on the runways. For my part, the sight of this material makes me want autumn. Maybe you do too?

Corduroy: This is how versatile the material will be in autumn 2024

Self-explanatory fashion trends are my favorites – corduroy can be counted among them in good conscience. The material not only has its own look but also a grateful timelessness and obvious styling instructions. A look at the runway confirms this: Tommy Hilfiger, for example, adopted the currently popular preppy look and showed corduroy in classic brown – combined in an all-over look or with polo shirts and midi-length pleated skirts. The impression: slightly conservative, but used so consciously that it exactly matches the aesthetic of fall 2024.

Ermanno Scervino and Sézane also keep it simple and show corduroy in all its variety – the material is best used as a suit in the new season, not only saving time but also having a skilfully retro-esque effect. Corduroy was seen in a slightly more subtle way in H&M's autumn campaign as a short with soft knitwear or as a shirt variant, which is now becoming a preppy alternative to the denim shirt. If you like it even more feminine, you can also find the autumn material as a dress or as a tailored coat.

Good news: Corduroy will style itself in fall 2024

As you can see, there is no reason to complain about this – perhaps the material will even make it easier for you to get used to the new season. After all, corduroy is one of those fabrics that only works in one season: autumn. Also on the plus side: corduroy is incredibly easy to style!

The looks from the runway already show that you hardly need more than one piece of corduroy to start in style – but the fashion trend also works wonderfully from head to toe. It never looks too much, but always dressed up and classic. In terms of color, you can be inspired by your surroundings on your next walk and bring the nuances of the leaves into your wardrobe. But the fashion trend also has in store for those who like to experiment: As Ferragamo proves in the Pre-Fall collection, corduroy looks elegant even in a colorful version and, above all, absolutely fashionable when styled monochrome.

I, for one, have already ordered a corduroy suit and can hardly wait to wear it. So autumn can stay a while longer…
