The metallic look is now as much a part of the cold season as presents are at Christmas or sparklers are at New Year’s Eve. Logically, the shiny metallic beauty trend was also seen on the catwalks for the current autumn/winter season.
However, it’s still a while until the big celebrations and we don’t want to shake off the last of the summer feelings just yet. So this gentle version of the trend is just right now: eye makeup with soft metals is a nice way to get in the mood for the party season, and can also be worn in everyday life.
Beauty trend soft metals: Inspiration from the catwalk
As striking and glamorous as the metallic look normally is, for the fall/winter season it shows its understated side, which can also be worn away from lavish parties. The make-up from Dior’s haute couture show, for example, is also suitable for daytime wear.
It shimmers slightly but doesn’t go for too much. If you want to recreate it, apply eye shadow in shades such as champagne and gold to the eyelids and blend it gently up to the brow bone.
Want even more shimmer? Then you can apply highlighter in a matching shade (ideally with very fine shimmer particles) to the cheekbones or simply blend the eyeshadow up to there. If the rest of the make-up stays natural, like Dior, the whole thing doesn’t look like a disco ball but rather reminds you a little of the fresh glow of the last days of summer.
The beauty trend Soft Metals was also seen on the Chanel runway: Here, light gold tones on the eyelid complemented the looks shown, along with a little lip gloss.
Match the eye shadow to the jewelry, for example, gold to gold.
This creates a harmonious, very elegant overall look. The make-up artists chose cool silver for the designer Ulla Johnson’s show. Perfection was nowhere to be found here, and that’s a good thing. The shimmering pigments are easily applied with the fingers, creating a nonchalant look that brings a little party atmosphere into everyday life.
The Alexis Mabille label opted for glitter with a holographic effect and also managed to achieve the perfect balance between festive and everyday wear. After all, even colorful, shimmering glitter pigments don’t look too over the top when worn with a no-makeup look, with natural eyebrows, little mascara, and subtle tones on the lips.
Soft metals are the perfect beauty trend to slowly but surely usher in the party season. After all, time flies…
