Starmer responds to Putin by saying Britain is not seeking conflict with Russia

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer responded to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s words about a war between NATO and Russia in the event of long-range weapons being supplied to Ukraine . The Guardian writes about this.

“We are not looking for any conflict with Russia, we have no such intentions whatsoever. But they started this conflict, and Ukraine has the right to self-defense,” he said.

Responding directly to threats earlier by the Russian president, Starmer told reporters: “Russia started this conflict. Russia illegally Military Operation in Ukraine. Russia can end this conflict straight away. Ukraine has the right to self-defence.”

The British prime minister also added that in the near future in Ukraine and the Middle East “really important events are likely, and therefore a number of tactical decisions need to be made.”

On September 12 , Putin said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) are not capable of striking deep into Russian territory without data from European and American satellites. He also said that direct Western involvement changes the nature of the conflict in Ukraine, so Russia will be prepared to respond.

David Lammy, the foreign secretary, appeared to go a step further on Thursday night, saying Britain and the US should give Ukraine the weapons it needs to defeat Russia. “This is a crucial period in the fight because you are setting things up to stop Russia getting the advantage over winter,” he told the Daily Telegraph while visiting Kyiv.

“We are here also, of course, at a time when it is crystal clear Russia is escalating with its friend Iran, taking a consignment of ballistic missiles. Ballistic missiles that will be used in the winter, sadly, against the Ukrainian people and which will cost lives.
