Two things that dominate the pedestrian areas of big cities are the three stripes of Adidas and the famous swoosh of Nike. Fashion professionals from young to old love comfortable sneakers for everyday wear, but is this perception of the dominance of the two fashion giants just subjective?
The Samba hype just doesn’t want to die down and the “Dunks” are also very popular with fashion professionals of all ages, but when it comes to the currently most popular sneaker brand, an analysis by the Swiss online retailer Galaxus (which is also active in the German market) shows that another brand, measured by sales figures, is ahead: New Balance.

The Galaxus.ch range includes over 22,000 sneakers (as of April 2024). The sales figures for Germany and Switzerland speak a clear language: With a total share of 24 percent of sneaker sales in 2023, New Balance tops the list of the most popular sneakers. The sustainable French sneaker brand Veja (the “Esplar” model is one of Galaxus’ bestsellers) comes in second place, with Skechers surprisingly in third place. Nike follows in fourth place, then Adidas in fifth place.

If you are a sneaker fan and are wondering which model will show you the best sense of trends, then we have a tip: New Balance has revealed in a press release which models are currently the most popular in terms of cross-gender sales in stationary retail and online retail: The 530 model ranks first in the ranking, followed by the 574 model. The 480L model secures third place.
