With fashion highlights from the Erdem to the Burberry show, According to British Fashion Council  London Fashion Week will end on September 17, 2024. The collections already reveal which trends we can look forward to next spring and summer of 2025. At the same time, the British fashion capital London is celebrating its fortieth anniversary of Fashion Week – shaped by earlier iconic designers such as Alexander McQueen and Vivienne Westwood through to the new generation of JW Anderson and Simone Rocha.

In terms of fashion, London stands for a lot of punk, a lot of rebellious creativity, and a lot of Brit chic. And so this year’s street styles around London Fashion Week in September 2024 may feature similar trends to those in New York, Milan, or Paris. But London always develops its way of interpreting them. Which London-inspired trends will be particularly popular in autumn 2024 – here.

6 Street Style Trends from London for Fall 2024

    Power silhouettes

The trend: Shoulder pads were established in the 1970s to underline female emancipation in fashion. Since then, they have been considered the epitome of power dressing and are experiencing a revival in autumn 2024. During London Fashion Week in September 2024, fashion professionals showed up mainly in coats with strong shoulders.

The styling: When it comes to power dressing, anything goes: whether it’s feminine kitten heels, sneakers, or boots – wear whatever feels good to you with shoulder pads.

    Suede styles

The trend: While the boho trend in summer 2024 still featured flowing dresses, flounces, and ruffles, in autumn 2024 it is mainly focused on suede. Also known as suede, fashion professionals are now wearing blazers, bags, or loafers in brown suede material – including during London Fashion Week.

The styling: It goes particularly well with jeans looks and understated, down-to-earth styles. Styling hack from fashion pros: Just wear one suede piece and style the rest of the look around it.

    Rivet details

The trend: Whether spread across the entire pair of trousers or discreetly on ballerina flats – rivets are the new trend detail for autumn 2024. Their origin is biker code, which is characterized by chunky boots and leather jackets in addition to the rivets. Bikercore is thus becoming the edgy counter-trend to romantic boho styles in the colder season.

The styling: Stud details go just as well with the biker look of a leather jacket and boots as with the more understated jeans styling with a blazer and blouse. At London Fashion Week, however, we spotted the trend mainly in black edgy looks.

    Double denim

The trend: In keeping with the boho trend, double denim will also be popular again in autumn 2024. Traditionally, the popular autumn look consists of two denim items, for example, a shirt and long trousers ( shop here ).

The styling: The look of a denim top and jeans pants will get an upgrade in autumn 2024: instead of the most similar types of jeans, very contrasting denim colors will now be styled together. Fashion professionals even go for kitten heels with a denim look.

    70s coats

The trend: The buzz words Frazzled English Woman are currently going viral on TikTok. They represent the typical portrait of British women in films like “Bridget Jones”, who are very cool, very confident, and at the same time very confused. In keeping with this trend and the boho hype, leather coats with frayed fur trim in the 70s style are particularly popular in autumn 2024 – this was also shown at London Fashion Week.

The styling: The coats are reminiscent of Kate Hudson’s iconic coat look in the film “Almost Famous” (2000) and, according to trend analysis, are worn exactly like that: with retro styles such as flared trousers, a (lace) top, and pointed ankle boots. A British twist is added with a Burberry scarf as a hair accessory.

    Cottage Chic

The trend: Style icon Grece Ghanem shows during London Fashion Week how rural functional jackets in utility style will be worn in autumn 2024. Namely as a style break with elegant styles such as midi skirts, ankle boots, and the like ( shop here ).

The styling: heeled boots or ballerina flats give casual functional jackets a chic upgrade. If you want to style the British cottage jacket elegantly, you should choose an outfit based on skirts, blouses, or cashmere sweaters that transform the cottage core into cottage chic.
