She previously ignored making any statements on the subject of her gender, and now she has revealed why
American singer-songwriter Lady Gaga (Lady, 38) has been the target of various rumors for years, and one of the most common was the claim that she is a man. The rumors started during the early years of her career and followed her for a long time.
When asked by journalists about this sensitive topic, Gaga often avoided giving direct answers, which only further fueled the public’s interest. Although many wondered why she never decided to distance herself from those rumors, now she has finally revealed the real reason for her silence,
- The reason I didn’t answer the question was because I didn’t feel like a victim of that lie – Gaga told American business magnate Bill Gates in his new documentary series “What’s Next? The Future With Bill Gates”.

- But I thought about it, what about a child who was accused of something similar, and who would think that a public person like me should be ashamed – she said.
She also explained how the rumor started in the 2010s after a doctored photo went viral on the internet.
- Photoshopped photos appeared on the Internet and people said: ‘You know there is a rumor that you are a man. What do you have to say to that?’ – recalled the Grammy winner.
As she revealed, she tried to turn the narrative around when asked about the topic.
- I have been in situations where correcting rumors was not in the best interest – I was thinking about the well-being of other people. So in that case I tried to be provocative and disruptive in another way. I tried to use misinformation to create another disruptive moment – the pop star told Gates.

According to Indipendent “When I was in my early 20s there was a rumor that I was a man,” Lady Gaga told Gates. “I went all over the world. I traveled for tours and to promote my records and in almost every interview I sat in – there was this imagery on the internet that had been doctored – they were like, ‘There are rumors that you’re a man. What do you have to say about that?’”
