Well, did you sleep well? Then get ready: Here comes the hot news, hotter than freshly brewed coffee. Every Saturday morning, Megalopreneur Magazine brings you the news that the fashion world is currently talking about. This time, it includes the first highlights from Paris, Octoberfest-mad Hollywood stars, and a colorful book tip for the fall.
Fashion Week in the fashion capital has begun – the first highlights from France.
In fashion, the four major fashion weeks are referred to as “The Big Four”: London, Milan, New York and Paris. The latter is considered to be particularly influential and always attracts fashion experts, buyers, and stars from all over the world. The starting signal was given on Monday – and although there are still a few days (and a few shows) to go, some highlights have already emerged:
L’Oréal opens Fashion Week.
L’Oréal is not necessarily the first brand we think of when it comes to fashion weeks, as it would be more likely to be considered one of the influential beauty brands. But L’Oréal’s seventh show took place in Paris on Monday and featured some highlights and a large star line-up. The focus was on the topics of inclusion, empowerment, and self-love. The catwalk show with a total of six acts was more of a reunion of all of the brand’s ambassadors, including Kendall Jenner, Eva Longoria, Jane Fonda, and Heidi Klum. Bella Hadid is making her comeback at Saint Laurent
After a two-year break, Bella Hadid returned to the catwalk at the Saint Laurent show. After announcing in October 2022 that she wanted to take a break from modeling to focus on her health, she was back in the French capital two years later: in an officecore look (black suit, tie, and striking glasses), she walked in front of a high-profile audience, including Blackpink member Rose and actress Zoë Kravitz.
Gianni’s at Paris Fashion Week
Many people immediately associate it with Copenhagen Fashion Week. That’s why it’s all the more exciting that the brand made its debut at Paris Fashion Week in 2024. True to the DNA of the Danish brand, the collection is a game of opposites: masculine and feminine, tailored and transparent, practical and romantic. It was created from a collaboration between creative director Ditte Reffstrup and two up-and-coming designers Nicklas Skovgaard and Claire Sullivan. Together they designed show looks that combine the typical Ganni features such as ruffle details, delicate flowers, and sportswear motifs. Swipe for our favorite looks:
Rabanne shows the most expensive bag in the world.
You have to dig deep into your pockets (pun intended) for luxury bags. But 250,000 euros is probably too expensive even for designer fans. Rabanne presented the “most expensive bag in the world” at the Spring 2025 fashion show in Paris. It is made of 18-carat gold and is a tribute to the “most expensive dress in the world” that Paco Rabanne designed for the French fashion icon Françoise Hardy in 1968. The bag was handmade in 100 hours.
In addition, two other bags were presented: one made of Murano glass, manufactured by the glass manufacturer Venini, and one made of ceramic.
Munich takes center stage as Hollywood stars.
Paris and New York can pack up, Munich is the new place to be. At least at the end of September, when it’s time to say: O’zapft is! And the Octoberfest starts in the Bavarian capital. But in 2024, it won’t just be party-loving Italians and the local chic crowd who will be heading to the festival tents, but also real Hollywood stars. On the first weekend, the actor Lucien Laviscount (known from Emily in Paris) and Ed Westwick (known from Gossip Girl) with his wife Amy Jackson were guests at the Wiesn – and seemed to have had a lot of fun. We’re excited to see who else we’ll run into on the second weekend.
Zara joins the streamers – Cindy Crawford & Kaia Gerber as guests.
A fashion show that you don’t have to travel to Milan, Paris, or New York for, but can watch from the comfort of your own home? No problem. Zara launched a new format this week: Zara Streaming. Directed by David Lowkey, the first event featured two fashion icons: the mother-daughter duo Cindy Crawford and Kaia Gerber. A fall collection was unveiled, with modern, versatile pieces for the new season. During the show, viewers were able to view product details and shop for the exclusive collection in real-time. A new shopping experience that captures the spirit of the times.
Jean-Paul Gaultier appoints Ludovic de Saint Sernin as the next guest designer.
The rumor mill was bubbling, and now it’s confirmed: Belgian designer Ludovic de Saint Sernin is the next guest designer at Jean Paul Gaultier. He will create the upcoming Haute Couture collection for Paris Couture Week in January 2025.
Ludovic de Saint Sernin is a major player in the fashion industry. He has worked at Balmain, among others, and founded his brand.
Alberta Ferretti resigns as creative director.
Just a few days ago she presented her collection in Milan – and nobody knew that it would be Alberta Ferretti’s last as creative director of the brand of the same name. On Tuesday, the parent company Aeffe announced that Alberta Ferretti would be leaving the brand – 43 years after her first fashion show. However, she will not be retiring for good, as she will continue to hold the position of Vice President of Aeffe. It is not yet known who Alberta Ferretti’s successor will be. It remains exciting.
