Members of Netanyahu’s conservative Likud and religious parties constantly shouted “criminal” and “liar”
The Israeli parliament – the Knesset gathered today to vote on the end of the historic rule of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, which lasted for 12 consecutive years, and a total of 15 years.
After the debate, the parliament will vote on the confidence in the new coalition government formed by Netanyahu’s opponents, Nova.rs reports.
If the vote is taken, Naftali Bennett, a former associate, and now Netanyahu’s rival will become prime minister in a rotating government made up of center-right, right-wing and left-wing parties, and an Islamic Arab party.
Netanyahu is expected to become the leader of the opposition after that.
Bennett, who shares Netanyahu’s ideology of hardliners and whose parents immigrated to Israel from the United States, is expected to emphasize the need for close relations with the United States.
The mandator for the composition of the new government is the leader of the party of the center Ima budcnosti, Jair Lapid, the current leader of the opposition. He will be prime minister after Bennett in 2023.
The session started very violently, and the deputies of Netanyahu’s conservative Likud and religious parties constantly shouted “criminal” and “liar” while Bennett spoke, trying to overpower them.
