    Russia to spend 12.5 million rubles to attract teachers to the Arctic

    The Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) will allocate over 12.5 million rubles this year for the implementation of the Arctic Teacher project. The funds mentioned will be used to attract specialists to the remote northern regions. This was reported on the Day of Knowledge, September 1, at the press service of the regional Ministry of Education and Science.

    “Agreements on cooperation between the authorities of the Arctic regions will be signed, measures to support teachers in the form of payment of travel and lifting costs will be envisaged,” the department explained.

    Within the framework of the project “Teacher of the Arctic” at the North-Eastern Federal University (NEFU), several dozen target places have been created for the training of future teachers. In secondary educational institutions, in turn, pedagogical classes will be created and scholarships will be established to increase the interest of schoolchildren in the teaching profession.

    Also this year, according to another program, “Zemsky Teacher”, 19 teachers went to work in the Arctic.
